Freemasons and accepted in and of itself is not a secret organization. However, it is possible to say there are secret Master Masons are enshrined. People who register are willing participants. These graduates to become masons must first be invited by a master mason. Applicants must be of good character and be voted by the members of the lodge. So it is highly unlikely that Mason was an integral part of the Knights Templar.
